Award details for the Kathryn J. Wilson Award for Outstanding Leadership in Mentoring Undergraduates
The Center for Research and Learning invites nominations from undergraduate students for the Wilson Award for Outstanding Leadership and Mentoring of Undergraduates. Each year, this award in the amount of $1,000 is given to an individual who has made significant contributions to promote undergraduate research at IU Indianapolis. The award is in honor of Dr. Kathryn Wilson, the founding director of the Center for Research and Learning.
This award nomination should consist of a one- to two-page letter describing how the nominee has made an impact in the student’s life. The letter should clearly explain in the student’s own words why the mentor is deserving of the award. The letter will carry more weight if co-signed by other undergraduate students who have had similar mentoring experiences with the nominee. A CV of the nominee should not be included. The selection committee will contact the department chairs of the finalist for additional information before deciding on the awardee.
